
Police arrest theft accused in swift action

Mangaluru police swiftly arrest theft suspect Zakir Hussain, recovering ₹70,000 and a mobile phone from the accused.
The Mangaluru North Police on Sunday arrested a resident of Gujjarkere-Jeppu in Mangaluru on the charges of stealing ₹1.28 lakh cash from a goods vehicle and recovered portion of the stolen cash and a mobile phone bought with the stolen proceeds.
The police gave the name of the accused as Zakir Hussain, 38, a native of Kasaba Bengre. He was secured near Mannagudda junction while the police recovered ₹70,000 in cash and a new mobile phone from him.
Complainant Mohammed Nizamuddin told the North (Bunder) Police that he had brought arecanut belonging to one Sridhar Alva in his mini goods vehicle for selling it to an arecanut trader on Bibi Alabi Road in the city. He had kept the sale proceeds of ₹1,28,740 on the vehicle dashboard and proceeded to buy some items on J. M. Road.
When he returned to the vehicle, he found the dashboard was open and the cash missing. Immediately, he approached the Bunder police and filed the plaint.
Inspector Sachin Kumar, PSI Sheethal Alagur, ASIs Shashidhar and Damodar, and a team of personnel cracked the case and arrested the accused. A jurisdictional court remanded him in judicial custody. Hussain was facing cases of house burglary in Kundapur police station and a theft case at Mangaluru South police station.
