The Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation has opened its food outlet at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research here.
Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inaugurated the outlet on Jipmer campus in the presence of PWD and Tourism Minister K. Lakshminarayanan and institute Director Vir Singh Negi.
The institute, in a release, said the outlet would function from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is a proposal to provide 24-hour service by the outlet. The initiative was aimed at providing hygienic food at affordable prices to people from economically-weaker sections of society who sought treatment in Jipmer.
As part of the International Summit on Advanced Trauma Care, Jipmer on Sunday held a walkathon to announce the institute’s year-long programme to create awareness on road safety. Superintendent of Police Rachna Singh inaugurated the walkathon on Beach Road. Jipmer has plans to promote road safety and responsible behaviour through community outreach, student-led campaigns and public engagement activities, the institute said in a separate release.
