With the summer season approaching, the Forest Department has started filling water in 100-odd troughs in the Coimbatore Forest Division for wild animals.

Besides aiding wild animals quench their thirst within the forests, routine refilling of these artificial waterholes is also aimed at reducing incidents of wild animals entering human habitations for water in the summer.
District Forest Officer N. Jayaraj has instructed Forest Range Officers of all the ranges to have the frontline staff check the troughs regularly and refill them based on need.
