Dairy brand Amul paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri who died on February 15 in Mumbai. He was 69. In a post on social media, Amul shared a graphic and captioned it, “Tribute to ‘disco king’ and legendary Indian singer/composer... (sic).”
Bappi Lahiri’s sudden demise has sent shockwaves across the country and left scores of fans in a state of grief. The black and white graphic that Amul shared features two animated sketches of the singer. One animated sketch features him playing the piano while he is seen singing in the other.
“Chalte chalte mere yeh geet yaad rakhna,” reads the caption on the graphic of Amul’s post.
Bappi Lahiri had been unwell for a long time. His family issued an official statement regarding his unfortunate demise on February 16. "It’s a deeply sad moment for us. Our beloved Bappi Da left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation will take on arrival of Bappa from LA tomorrow mid-morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated (sic)," the statement read.
Bappi Lahiri's son, Bappa Lahiri, landed in Mumbai on February 17 with his wife and son for his last rites.
