Agnipath protests: high alert declared at Visakhapatnam railway station

Based on threat messages circulating in social media groups, high alert has been declared at Visakhapatnam Railway station and a few others stations such as Simhachalam and Marripalem.
“Post violence at Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday and the messages that have been circulating in social media groups that Visakhapatnam and Guntur Railway Stations will come under attack by the people who have been protesting against the Agnipath scheme, we have declared high alert at the precincts of the Visakhapatnam Railway Station,” said Police Commissioner Ch. Srikanth.
The Police Commissioner visited the station on Friday evening and chalked out the deployment.
The bandobust and deployment will be jointly done by the city police, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).
“We have identified all entry, exit and vulnerable points and deployed forces,” he said.
It is learnt that the tracks are being manned by GRP and RPF officials.
It is also learnt that the railway officials are also contemplating the diversion of trains.
