Aamir Khan celebrates 21 years of Lagaan. Invites director Ashutosh Gowariker, film's cast to his house

Aamir Khan's Lagaan completed 21 years of its release on June 15. The Bollywood superstar invited the film's cast to his Mumbai house to celebrate.

Oscar-nominated Lagaan completed 21 years on June 15, 2022. The film is also counted among the best ones ever made. 21 years is a long time and it calls for some celebrations. Hence, Aamir turned host for the cast of Lagaan, director Ashutosh Gowariker and invited them over to his Mumbai house for a get-together. Cricketer Irfan Pathan was also spotted in a video shared by Aamir Khan’s production house Instagram handle.

Blockbuster success Lagaan had released on June 15, 2001. The film completed 21 years on the said date this year. While we had already shared how the film might soon be adapted as a West End show in the United Kingdom, we were rooting for some celebrations taking place in the city. And so it did! A video posted on Aamir Khan’s production house Instagram handle had accounts of a fun evening spent by the cast of Lagaan, who’d been invited by Aamir over at his house in Mumbai.

You would recognise the who’s who from the film’s cast, along with director Ashutosh Gowariker and Indian skipper Irfan Pathan eating, chatting away and having fun at Aamir’s house.

Lagaan was set in the pre-Independence era, where members of a small village go up against British army officers in a game of cricket, which they know nothing about. Their goal was to get the lagan (agricultural tax) repealed. Besides Aamir, the film starred Gracy Singh, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajendra Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Rajesh Vivek, Pradeep Rawat and British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne.
