
West Bengal Assembly Elections: TMC demands removal of Bhabanipur RO for ‘documented association’ with BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari

Suvendu Adhikari is contesting the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections from the Bhabanipur seat against CM Mamata Banerjee.
West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026: The incumbent Trinamool Congress (TMC) has demanded the immediate removal of the returning officer for the Bhabanipur assembly constituency, alleging that the officer a “documented and close association” with BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari.
The TMC submitted a representation to West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal on Friday, raising objection to the appointment of RO for the Bhabanipur seat in southern Kolkata, and sought his removal.
As per the TMC’s complaint, the RO for the Bhabanipur seat, previously served as the block development officer (BDO) in Nandigram-II, where his proximity to Suvendu Adhikari in public engagements is “well documented”.
