According to early reports, tremors were felt in parts of Kashmir Valley, with panicked residents rushing out of their homes in several areas, including Srinagar and nearby Budgam districts.
As per officials, that the moderate intensity quake was felt across Kashmir at around 9:45 PM, sparking panic among residents in several districts, including in Srinagar and Budgam. However, no casualties, loss of life, or material damage was reported, they stated.
Preliminary reports suggest no casualties or major property damage has been reported from any district of Jammu and Kashmir, the State Disaster Management Authority said in a statement.
Calling the incident a 'brazen attempt to challenge the authority of this Court,' the Chief Justice said the move was carefully planned to stall proceedings and create pressure on officials carrying out their responsibilities.
