Dindigul district administration distributes watermelon to public amid rising temperatures, supports farmers and sanitation workers.
With Dindigul district experiencing rising temperatures, the district administration on Monday distributed watermelon pieces to the public who came to the Collectorate premises to submit the petitions at the grievance redress meeting.
In a press release, Collector S. Saravanan said that the district administration had directed the panchayats to provide lemon juice, watermelon juice and buttermilk to the sanitary workers during the duty hours.
To stop rumours about the adulteration of watermelon that was circulating on social media, to create awareness among the public and increase the livelihood of farmers and to ensure that watermelons get a good price in the market, the district administration has purchased watermelons directly from farmers and distributed them at the grievance redress meeting.
