
Water level in Papanasam, Manimuthar dams

Water level in Papanasam dam on Saturday stood at 56.25 feet (maximum permissible level is 143 ft.) with an inflow of 35.07 cusecs and a discharge of 354.75 cusecs. The level in Manimuthar dam was 86.55 ft. (118 ft.) with an inflow of 272 cusecs and a discharge of 445 cusecs. Rainfall recorded in the region in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. was (in mm): Cheranmahadevi 53.4, Ambasamudram 40, Palayamkottai 33, Tirunelveli 31.6, Manimuthar dam 24.06, Kalakad 23.6, Papanasam dam 10, Servalaru dam 8 and Moolakaraipatti 6.

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the State government on a PIL petition, which had complained about disturbances caused to people residing in the localities around the National Public School situated in Rajajinagar 5th block due to use of loudspeakers with high volume in the school and parking of school buses in residential areas.
