
Walkathon to spread awareness on oral hygiene

Join the walkathon in Puducherry to promote oral hygiene awareness and celebrate World Oral Health Day with community participants.
A host of leading health institutions joined hands to organise a walkathon to promote oral hygiene coinciding with World Oral Health Day recently.
The event, held as part of the National Oral Health Programme on the theme ‘A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life’, was flagged off at the Gandhi Thidal by S. Sevvel, Health Director.
Among the participants were officials of various programmes, including the National Tobacco Control Programme, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, National Programme for Control of Blindness, and National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases.
Volunteers from organisations such as Care Max Foundation, Indian Women’s Network, Ladies Circle of India, and the Indian Dental Association also participated.
An oral health pledge was taken by all participants, and pamphlets were distributed to the public. The event was led by Kavipriya, State Nodal Officer, National Oral Health Programme.
More than 250 participants, including students from Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences, Jipmer Medical College, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Sri Venkateswaraa Dental College, Pondicherry University Community College, Mother Theresa Postgraduate and Research Institute, Rashtriya Raksha University, Sathya Special School, Sanvi School, and Hope Foundation, joined the walkathon, carrying awareness placards with messages about oral health.
