Opposing Tasmac’s plan to open a liquor shop near places of worship and a couple of tuition centres in their village, a group of people from Pattankallur near near Suththamalli submitted a petition to District Collector R. Sukumar on Monday. The petitioners said despite stiff resistance from the locals and against the directive of the Madras High Court, Tasmac had decided to open the liquor outlet at a spot located near places of worship, a playground and the tuition centres coaching girl students.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
