The video, shot by Sriram Murali, showed thousands of Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters perched on a tree, filling the air with a chorus of chirps.
At the foothills of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, near Pollachi in Tamil Nadu, a tree came alive with the sound of thousands of birds chirping in perfect rhythm – a scene that found its way to social media through a video shared by IAS officer Supriya Sahu.
Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forests, posted the clip on X, which was shot by conservationist Sriram Murali.
The video captured thousands of Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters perched on a tree, filling the air with a chorus of chirps. The soundscape and visuals together created a calming effect that delighted viewers.
“Bird orchestra at its finest,” Sahu said in the caption of her post, adding that the scene also featured a significant message. She explained that the birds gathered in large numbers to roost, ensured safety, stayed connected through constant calls, and hunted more effectively as a group.
“Found along forest edges and open spaces, these vibrant birds also play an important ecological role by controlling insect populations. A perfect reminder that there is strength in togetherness,” she said, calling it an “incredible capture.”

Amid a dire energy crisis triggered by the choking of the Strait of Hormuz, Islamabad has cancelled the celebrations and the parade scheduled for Pakistan Day. The March 23 observance will now be marked with "simplicity and dignity", said Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif's office, as fuel shortages and soaring costs hit the people hard.
