Techie's 'Gas gone, heat rod on' hack to cook food goes viral amid LPG crisis

A techie used an immersion rod to cook curry after running out of gas, with the viral video showing an exaggerated version of people's realities amid the ongoing LPG crisis in India.
A techie decided to think out-of-the-box and used an immersion rod to cook his meal after running out of gas. Just like that, a common household device was turned into an unlikely kitchen tool.
Shared on Instagram by Himank Vasudeva, the video captured a workaround that several viewers found both surprising and reflective of the current situation around cooking fuel.
In the clip, a steel pot sat on the kitchen counter, filled with a simmering curry, yellow gravy bubbling steadily with visible chunks of vegetables floating on the surface. But instead of a flame underneath, the source of heat came from above. A metal immersion rod was dipped directly into the pot, its coils partially submerged in the liquid.
As the rod heated up, the gravy around it began to churn more actively. Small bubbles rose rapidly to the top, especially near the coils, creating a concentrated boil in the centre while the rest of the curry followed in gentle ripples.
The display text on the video read, “Gas gone, Heat rod on,” making the situation clear without much explanation.
The clip came at a time when several parts of India have been facing LPG shortages, linked to supply disruptions amid tensions in the Middle East. Several households have reported delays in cylinder deliveries, while small food businesses and eateries in some areas have struggled to keep operations going, with a few temporarily shutting down due to lack of cooking gas.

On March 18, Israel struck a gas field in Iran. Tehran responded in a matter of hours, striking refineries in several Gulf countries. What explains this sharp, quick counter-attack capability of a country whose military infrastructure has supposedly been severely degraded? The answer lies in a cheap drone and a dispersed military.
