In a slip-up, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken referred to Ashraf Ghani as Hamid Karzai, who led Afghanistan’s first government after the Taliban were overthrown in 2001, while he was speaking in an interview and was talking about the Afghan president fleeing the country.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in a TV interview, mistakenly referred to ousted Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani as Hamid Karzai, who led Afghanistan’s first government after the Taliban were overthrown in 2001 and was president until 2014.
