The United States had provided Ukraine with intel on the location of the prized Russian warship Moskva before it sank, sources have said.

A US official has told The Guardian that the decision to target the Russian flagship in the Black Sea using anti-ship missiles was that of Ukraine, but the US provided 'a range of intelligence' including the locations of those ships.

The disclosure of US support for Ukraine in attacking the leading Russian warship comes to the fore as the Biden administration is under pressure from the Republicans to do more to support Ukraine against the Russian invasion and as polls suggested that Americans doubted whether President Joe Biden was being tough enough on Moscow.
Russia said its lead warship in the Black Sea sank after an explosion and fire that Ukraine claimed was caused by a missile strike, dealing a blow to Moscow as it readied for new attacks that were likely to determine the conflict's outcome.

The Moskva, Russia's flagship in its Black Sea fleet, sank as it was being towed to port in stormy weather, Russian news agencies quoted the defence ministry as saying.
