UN Secretary General Guterres appoints Shombi Sharp as UN Resident Coordinator in India

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has appointed Shombi Sharp of the United States as the UN Resident Coordinator in India with the host government's approval, according to a statement.
Mr. Sharp has "devoted more than 25 years of his career to promoting inclusive and sustainable development internationally, bringing experience he has acquired at the United Nations and externally to this new position", the UN said in the statement issued on Monday.

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the State government on a PIL petition, which had complained about disturbances caused to people residing in the localities around the National Public School situated in Rajajinagar 5th block due to use of loudspeakers with high volume in the school and parking of school buses in residential areas.
