Punch, a baby monkey at a Japanese zoo has become a viral sensation, now with a Google Easter egg. Simply type "Punch the monkey" in the search bar for an adorable treat!
Typing “Punch the monkey” into Google no longer just leads to news articles or zoo updates. Instead, it triggers a small but surprisingly emotional digital surprise, an Easter egg that has delighted thousands of curious users.
Over the past few weeks, seven-month-old Punch, a baby macaque at Japan’s Ichikawa City Zoo, has become a global internet sensation.
Rejected by his mother and isolated from other monkeys in his enclosure, Punch was given an orangutan plush toy, IKEA’s Djungelskog orangutan, for comfort.
Photos and videos of the tiny macaque clinging to the plush companion spread across social media platforms, turning him into an unlikely symbol of resilience and cuteness.
However, the fascination doesn’t stop at viral clips.
Now, when users search for “Punch the monkey” on Google, a small animated monkey icon appears on the results page. Bright pink hearts with a hand drawn version of Punch clinging onto his orangutan plushie instantly flood the users' screen.
