Tribal man trampled to death by wild elephant while collecting forest produce in Kerala, two others escape unharmed.
In yet another fatal wild elephant attack, a tribal man was trampled to death at Thamaravellachal under the Peechi Forest Division in Thrissur district on Kerala on Wednesday (February 19, 2025).
The deceased has been identified as Malayan Veetil Prabakaran, 58, from the Thamaravellachal tribal hamlet. He was attacked by the elephant while he was in the forest collecting cheenikai, a forest produce used in traditional medicine.
Prabakaran, who had gone into the forest with his son and son-in-law, was attacked about six kilometers deep into the woods. The two others managed to escape unharmed.

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the State government on a PIL petition, which had complained about disturbances caused to people residing in the localities around the National Public School situated in Rajajinagar 5th block due to use of loudspeakers with high volume in the school and parking of school buses in residential areas.
