Explore cutting-edge agricultural technologies, products, and government schemes at a major expo near Vijayamangalam toll gate in Perundurai.
Around 90,000 people visited the three-day agricultural exhibition and conference held near the Vijayamangalam toll gate in Perundurai, which concluded on Friday.
Organised by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, the expo was inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday and witnessed overwhelming participation from farmers, students, youth, and the general public. Featuring 282 stalls, including 76 by government departments, 155 by private sector entities, 36 open-air displays, and 15 thematic exhibits, the event showcased a wide range of agricultural technologies, products, and government welfare schemes, becoming a major platform for knowledge exchange and innovation in the agriculture sector.
The expo highlighted cutting-edge innovations, including new crop varieties, vegetable seeds, grafted saplings of mango and guava, high-yield coconut seedlings, micronutrient mixtures, bio-fertilizers, natural manures, and modern farming tools. Many of these items were purchased by visitors. Both farmers and the public showed great interest in acquiring plants and learning about the technologies on display.
Expert-led discussions covered key topics such as mechanisation in agriculture—its challenges and solutions, strengthening bio-farming to protect soil health, climate-resilient agricultural practices, modern agri-tech innovations, and the role of artificial intelligence and robotics in farming. Additional sessions focused on high-yield sugarcane varieties, income-enhancement strategies for farmers, digital marketing and middleman-free agri markets, export opportunities, pest and disease management, next-generation horticulture, agroforestry, advanced turmeric cultivation and marketing, high-yield banana farming, and value addition in coconut farming.
A release from Collectorate said a total of 90,000 people, including students, visited the exhibition in three days
