The Kashmir Files Vs Bachchhan Paandey: Will Vivek Agnihotri's film affect box office opening of Akshay Kumar-starrer?

The Kashmir Files is having a dream run at the box office. Will it affect the box office opening of Akshay Kumar's Bachchhan Paandey? Industry experts answer.

Vivek Agnihotri's directorial venture, The Kashmir Files, has turned out to be a humongous hit. The film, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus, has struck a chord with the audience. And as a result, The Kashmir Files has already minted Rs 60 crore at the box office and it is marching towards the Rs 100 crore-mark. With the stupendous success of The Kashmir Files, one wonders if it will affect the box office opening of Akshay Kumar's Bachchhan Paandey, which is all set for a grand release on March 18. Industry experts have an answer to this.

Talking about the same, film producer and trade analyst, Amul V Mohan said, "It is going to definitely affect Bachchhan Paandey's opening day collection. The trajectory that The Kashmir Files is on right now, it will definitely go on to affect the opening numbers on March 18. Traditionally, it is Rs 27 crore to Rs 30 crore a day. But the way The Kashmir Files is behaving at the box office (every subsequent day, the collection is higher than the previous day), is unprecedented in simple trade numbers. We have never seen film phenomena like this."

The trade analyst and film producer went on to add, "We have also revised the box office numbers, seeing the trend which is going on right now. We have adjusted the estimated opening day number of Bachchhan Paandey drastically to accommodate this one. It will definitely affect the collection simply because of the way The Kashmir Files is performing right now."

On the other hand, trade analyst Akshaye Rathi doesn't think The Kashmir Files will affect the opening day numbers of the Akshay Kumar-starrer. "Both are going to stand their ground. A lot of people feel that Bachchhan Paandey will now have a hard time, but I don't think so, because Bachchhan Paandey again is a movie that will take a very good opening and do well at the box office, at least on it's first weekend. It's not that people can only watch one movie or only want to watch one movie, if The Kashmir Files has an audience of its own, so does Akshay Kumar and Bachchhan Paandey," said Akshaye.

Directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Bachchhan Paandey is an action-comedy. The film features Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi in key roles. The movie is scheduled for release on March 18, 2022.

On the other hand, The Kashmir Files, starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi, was released on March 11, 2022.
