The Kashmir Files' producer Abhishek Agarwal has dedicated the film's success to all the Kashmiri Pandits. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, the producer opened up about

The Kashmir Files has been receiving praises from all quarters. And, at the same time, the film is collecting moolah at the box office. So far the film has collected over Rs 207 crore at the box office. Recently, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered praise on the film. In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, the film's producer Abhishek Agarwal revealed why he chose to be a part of The Kashmir Files and what its success means to him.

In just two weeks the film not garnered love and appreciation but also managed to mint money. Talking about the success of The Kashmir Files, producer Abhishek Agarwal said, "I won't celebrate this success, it's not the time to celebrate, it's time to do something big. People have given me more responsibility now. We were actually not expecting this kind of response, especially not this much. We thought we would get a slow response to this film. But to our surprise, from Day one, the response has been tremendous and all we can be is thankful to the audience."

When asked how he became a part of the film, he shared, "Personally, I was working on Article 370, and Vivek (Agnihotri) was working on the same topic too. We met through a common friend. Both of us have the same ideology so we decided why can't we do the film together. Even he was looking for someone to do the film with him, from the beginning we knew it wasn't an easy project. We were not even sure whether the film would get a release, we had thought we might lose money but still, we went ahead. I wanted to do something different. I'm a Hindu and my grandfather was a jeweler of Nizami, he had his own identity and so did I. Hence, I did this film, which was different."

Talking about the challenges faced during the shoot of the film to which he said, "When you try to do something different and try to show something which has been hidden for many years you have to be prepared. Vivek ji told me in the beginning that anything happen in this journey, so we need to be mentally be prepared for this. Nothing could scare me, I was prepared for this." said

The Kashmir Files is Abhishek and Vivek's first project together. Praising the filmmaker, Abhishek added, "Vivek ji is very down-to-earth person, he was very dedicated towards his work, he kept on researching for this film and did an in-depth study regarding the topic. He was adamant to show the truth, he didn't want to impress anyone. We are what we are and that's what we have shown through this film, we are true to ourselves and the film."

Talking about their journey together he added, "I didn't know the entire story, I was just a little bit of aware, of this incident. When Vivek ji started to do the research and when we went for the tour we learned a lot. We were shocked to hear all the stories. Vivek and Pallavi traveled for three and a half months, to the US, Canada, South Africa. We spoke to 700 Kashmiri Pandits who fled from Jammu and Kashmir. Getting out the truth was the most challenging part of this film. Shooting the film was difficult too, because the whole crew, from the technicians, artists, and others everyone was very involved in the film. It was a very different experience for me in this film.

Speaking about meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Abhishek said, "It was very sudden meeting him. He applauded our work and appreciated it too. I really could not understand what was happening. To get appreciated by the PM of India is not easy, it's like a dream come true. It felt like we made something worthwhile. I strongly believe when you do good work, you get noticed."
