Tamil Nadu Assembly polls | MDMK promises 50% reservation for women in legislature

Total prohibition, allocation of 30% of State’s revenues to panchayats, 50% reservation for women in legislature, resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the Assembly, are some of the promises in the manifesto of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), released on Wednesday.
Other important promises in the manifesto include the closure of atomic power stations, strengthening of public sector undertakings and 90% employment for the son of the soil in public sector undertakings. The party, an ally of the DMK, also promised to mobilise support for trial in the International Court of Justice against those responsible for the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka. It also pressed for lifting the ban on the LTTE.A crowd comprising farmers, researchers, professors, students, and horticulture enthusiasts thronged the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru, on Friday for the inaugural ceremony of the Triphal Diversity Show which showcased 300 mango, 100 jackfruit, and 100 banana genotypes in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirappalli.
The State government on Friday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Additional Director-General of Police, Manish Kharbikar of the Economic Offences division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to probe the alleged multi-crore scam in the government-run Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
