
Srirangam temple getting ready for Vaikunda Ekadasi celebrations from December 30 to January 20

A coordination meeting of officials of various government departments was held at the Collectorate here on Friday in connection with the preparations for the ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ festival at Srirangam Sri Renganathaswamy temple.
Presided over by Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, the meeting was attended by Commissioner of Police N. Kamini, District Revenue Officer R. Rajalakshmi and the temple’s Joint Commissoner / Executive Officer Mariappan.
The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival is to be held from December 30 to January 20. The highlight of the festival is the opening of the Paramapadavaasal on January 10. Mr. Pradeep Kumar asked the officials to ensure basic facilities, including drinking water and toilets for the devotees coming for the festival, adequate security, and deployment of health teams within the temple complex. Generators should be kept ready.
Additional lighting arrangements would be made at the Amma Mandapam bathing ghat and at Kollidam bathing ghat. Uninterrupted power supply should be ensured during the festival period and special buses operated. The Collector asked the officials to remove encroachments along the roads in Srirangam and repair the damaged portions of the roads, an official release said.
Earlier, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Corporation Commissioner V. Saravanan and the temple’s Joint Commissioner inspected the temple complex and held discussions with them regarding the arrangements.
