Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha Isai Vizha December Music fest inaugurated

Vedas and Carnatic music intertwined, honored at Isai Vizha December Music Festival by Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.
The Vedas and Carnatic music cannot be separated, 46th Azhagiyasingar Sri Ranganatha Yateendra Maha Desikan of Ahobila Mutt said on Saturday. Speaking after presenting awards at the inaugural of the 124th year Isai Vizha December Music Festival of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha at Vidya Bharathi, Mylapore, he said only when the musician enjoys his/her music and celebrates it from their hearts can the rasikas too find joy in it.
Industrialist and Sabha president Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti said Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha was started as Sangeetha Vidwath Sabhai and Carnatic vocalist GMB’s father G. V. Narayanaswamy Iyer too has served as its secretary.
Sangeetha Kalasarathy award was presented to Carnatic vocalist Trichur V. Ramachandran and Mridangam vidwan Srimushnam V. Rajarao; Acharya Sarathy Award to musicologist Rukmini Ramani. Awards were also presented to mridangam vidwan Trichur C. Narendran, violin vidwan T.K.V. Ramanujacharlu, veena vidwan D. Balakrishna, ghatam maestro Ghatam S. Karthick; musician Issai Mazhalai Ramjhi; Carnatic vocalist Sunil R. Gargyan and violinist Kamalakiran Vinjamuri.
Sabha’s honorary secretaries R.Vijayaraghavan and M. Krishnamurthy; Violin vidwan Nagai R. Muralidharan and music connoisseur Cleveland V.V. Sundaram offered felicitations; Vidya Bharathi Trust Chairman Nandini Azad and Carnatica founder Sashikiran graced the occasion. Shree Sisters Tejashree Mahadevan and Tanujashree Mahadevan sang at the inauguration. The event was followed by a flute concert by S. Shashank. He was accompanied on the violin by L. Ramakrishnan and on the mridangam by N. C. Bharadwaj.
