President Joe Biden took the crowd by surprise at a Democratic National Committee speech on Friday as he apparently recognized a woman, stopped his speech midway, pointed to her and said, “You gotta say ‘hi’ to me. We go back a long way. She was 12, I was 30. But anyway.”

The remark came during Biden's rebuttal to House Republicans' recently-launched “Commitment to America” campaign platform.
“This woman helped me get a lot done,” he said about the woman in the crowd at the headquarters of the National Education Association.
The crowd broke into laughter and cheers at the President’s off-script remark. However, Biden didn’t divulge any further details.
“I mean this from the bottom of my heart. Those of you who know me, no one ever doubts I mean what I say, the problem is I sometimes say all that I mean,” Biden added later.
At the event, Biden slammed Republicans, vowing to veto a Republican ban on abortion if it arrives at his desk. The President celebrated the dip in gas prices and relaunched his attacks on the use of assault weapons.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
