Secunderabad MLA urges urgent borewell repairs and new drilling to combat water scarcity in the cantonment area.
Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh Narayanan pressed for urgent measures to strengthen drinking water supply in the cantonment area, placing the repair of defunct borewells and drilling of new ones at the top of the agenda during a general body meeting of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) on Saturday, March 28.
Raising concerns over water scarcity in several localities, the MLA urged officials to take up immediate repairs of existing borewells by replacing damaged motors and ensuring their functionality. He also called for the identification of locations where new borewells can be drilled to augment supply and prevent shortages during the summer months.
Apart from water-related issues, the MLA said that the State government is willing to construct community halls in the constituency, provided the Cantonment Board identifies and allocates suitable land parcels. He also flagged concerns of small-scale traders, requesting that the SCB keep hoarding charges at affordable levels and avoid imposing excessive financial burdens. Mr. Ganesh further sought the expeditious issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the development of Ramanna Kunta Lake.
On the infrastructure front, he raised the issue of elevated corridor projects, urging that land oustees be offered better compensation and be clearly informed about the extent of land acquisition.
