
Bengaluru West City Corporation presents a budget with the largest outlay among five corporations

West Corporation unveils its largest budget yet, focusing on mobility, governance, healthcare, and environmental enhancements for 2026-27.
With a focus on mobility, digital governance, solid waste management, healthcare upgrades, and revenue generation, the West City Corporation on Saturday (March 28, 2026) presented its maiden budget for 2026–27, pegging total receipts at ₹4,732.81 crore and expenditure at ₹4,732.73 crore. This is said to be the largest outlay among the five corporations.
Commissioner K.V. Rajendra, who presented the budget, outlined a range of measures aimed at improving civic infrastructure while expanding non-tax revenue streams. Of the total receipts, ₹2,541.73 crore is expected from revenue sources, along with ₹200 crore through loans.
A key governance reform proposed is the digitisation of property-related services. The Corporation will introduce an online system allowing citizens to submit documents and obtain new accounts for public land properties, which is expected to generate ₹18 crore in revenue. Moreover, QR codes will be installed on road nameplates to provide information about local officials and civic staff.
The Corporation plans to construct skywalks at 50 locations wherever required. Commercial advertising on these skywalks is expected to generate an additional ₹2 crore. Further, a dedicated TDR Exchange Cell will be established to streamline the transfer of development rights.
The Corporation is also introducing new revenue and efficiency measures, including tender-based parking systems with a focus on electric vehicle parking.
Traffic and urban mobility improvements form a major part of the budget.

Stating that the High Court of Karnataka has stayed two of the four conditions imposed by the Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority regrading permits to operate electric autorickshaws in Mangaluru, Youth Electrical Auto Chalakara Sangha, Mangaluru, on Saturday, urged the RTA to extend the March 31 deadline to apply for permits.
