Russia scraps upper age limit for military service

Russia has passed a bill abolishing the upper age limit for military service.

Russia has abolished the upper age limit for military service in the country. A document released on the official website said President Vladimir Putin signed the law abolishing the upper age limit.

As per a report by CGTN, the new law eliminated the age limit for both Russian citizens and foreigners of working age.

The Russian parliament passed a bill on Wednesday to abolish the upper age limit for those who wish to serve in the army under a contract.

Previously, Russian citizens aged 18-40 and foreigners aged 18-30 were entitled to conclude the first contract for military service.

The news comes even as the Russia-Ukraine war entered its fourth month on Tuesday.
