Rear Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale is new FOST

Rear Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale has assumed office as the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) of the Navy. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Navy in 1992.
He has served as Navigating Officer of Indian Naval Ships Subhadra, Udaygiri, Kirch, Gomati and Delhi. His other tenures at sea include those as Executive Officer of missile corvette INS Kora, Command of INS Khukri and the state-of-the-art missile destroyer INS Kolkata. He has also held the appointment of Fleet Operations Officer of the Eastern Fleet.
The Rear Admiral worked at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, as the Naval Adviser and also served as the Staff Officer to the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Opposition Congress demanded that the government open the Gandhi Vatika Museum, depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and freedom struggle, built at a cost of ₹85 crore in Jaipur’s Central Park last year, during the Congress-led regime in Rajasthan. The museum has not been opened to the public, reportedly because of the administration’s engagements with the State Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Almaya Munnettam (Lay People to the Fore), group in the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese of the Syro-Malabar Church opposed to the synod-recommended Mass, rejected a circular issued by Major Archbishop Raphael Thattil and apostolic administrator Bosco Puthur on June 9 to implement the unified Mass in the archdiocese from July 3.
