Prepare for heavy rain, floods in Hyderabad, CM Revanth tells officials

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directs officials to deploy emergency teams for monsoon preparedness in Hyderabad, emphasising preventive measures.

To ensure swift response in rain-affected areas during monsoon, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to deploy emergency teams round the clock. During a review meeting on monsoon preparedness held on Tuesday, he emphasised the need for prompt preventive measures based on Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the status of water harvesting well projects at 141 identified waterlogging points in Hyderabad and suggested using automatic pumps to clear accumulated rainwater. He also ordered the development of a new monitoring system at the Command Control Centre to track rainfall intensity and potential flooding in real time.

Mr.Revanth Reddy asked the police, traffic, HYDRAA and GHMC wings on alert to prevent traffic jams and other issues during heavy rain in Hyderabad. He instructed officials from the four departments to work in coordination to prevent damages due to rains.

The meeting discussed expediting the completion of pending drainage and desilting works, identifying problematic areas and taking preventive measures. The CM instructed officials to prepare plans in advance to prevent floods and submergence in the core urban region within the Outer Ring Road.

Given the rapid development of the core urban region, Mr.Revanth Reddy suggested preparing a special policy for the expansion and development of tanks, canals and roads within the region.

Chief Secretary K.Ramakrishna Rao, CMO officials V.Seshadri and Manik Raj, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath and other officials attended the meeting.
