A total of eight quakes jolted the State since Wednesday night and all originated in and around Tezpur, the National Centre for Seismology said.
People spent a sleepless night as a series of aftershocks continued to shake Assam, following the strong that caused extensive damage in the State. After the first quake of 6.4 magnitude struck Tezpur at 7.51 a.m. on Wednesday, a total of 18 aftershocks hit the district and its nearby areas on both sides of the Brahmaputra in central Assam, an official said on Thursday morning. A total of eight quakes jolted the State since Wednesday night and all originated in and around Tezpur, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said in its bulletin.More Related News

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the State government on a PIL petition, which had complained about disturbances caused to people residing in the localities around the National Public School situated in Rajajinagar 5th block due to use of loudspeakers with high volume in the school and parking of school buses in residential areas.
