Over 15 kg ganja seized in four cases in Hyderabad, eight peddlers arrested

Telangana STF seizes 15 kg of ganja, arrests six individuals in Hyderabad; contraband handed over for further investigation.

Over 15 kg of ganja was seized and eight individuals involved in its trade were arrested in four separate cases in Hyderabad by the State Task Force (STF) under the Telangana Excise and Prohibition department.

In the first such case, the teams carried out raids in Shamshabad and seized 2.8 kg of ganja. Officials said Mohammed Chand and Mohammed Riyaz were taken into custody in connection with this case, while cases were also booked against Mohammed Javed and Sajid, who currently remain at large. The seized contraband and the accused were handed over to Shamshabad Excise Station for further investigation.

Meanwhile in Chandanagar, six individuals were arrested while they were trying to sell ganja to potential customers. The arrested individuals — Durga Prasad, Ayub, Madhavan, Siddique, Ishran and Naveen Kumar — were handed over to Serilimgampally excise police for further investigation. A total of 1.2 kg of contraband, which is said to be sourced from a supplier in Maharashtra, was seized from them.

Another 1.08 kg of ganja was seized by the Saroornagar excise police in a separate operation. A case was registered against one individual involved in the trade and a search initiated.

The excise police officials along with Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) confiscated 10 kg of ganja during checks in trains going towards Lokmanya Tilak Terminal near Mumbai from Secunderabad. Efforts are under way to trace those transporting the contraband.
