Karnataka Minister announces efforts to resume separate Haj terminal at Mangaluru airport, pending Centre's approval.
A separate terminal for Haj pilgrims departing from Mangaluru airport is expected to be resumed, Minister for Municipal Administration and Haj Rahim Khan informed the Legislative Council on March 24.
Replying to Congress member Nagaraj Yadav during Question Hour, the Minister said that while a temporary dedicated terminal is arranged every year for Haj pilgrims departing from Bengaluru international airport, similar permission had not been granted by the Centre for Mangaluru airport over the past two years.
He said a request had been submitted to Union Ministers seeking approval to restart the facility at Mangaluru, and expressed confidence that permission would be granted this year.
Mr. Khan informed that around 8,000 pilgrims travelled for Haj in 2025, about 11,000 have been selected for the pilgrimage this year.
