
'Operation Lotus': AAP files complaint against BJP for attempting to poach 10 MLAs in Punjab

The Aam Aadmi Party has filed a complaint against the BJP alleging that the saffron outfit attempted to bring down the Punjab government by poaching AAP MLAs.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has filed a complaint against the BJP for the alleged poaching attempts in order to topple the government in Punjab. Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had accused the BJP of attempting to buy 10 party MLAs by offering them Rs 25 crore each.
In a complaint, submitted to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the party accused several BJP leaders of attempting to buy Punjab AAP MLAs and threatening Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural and others for exposing the alleged poaching agenda.

Addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Wednesday, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the BJP has murdered democracy by toppling elected governments in various states by using central investigation agencies and buying opposition MLAs.

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.
