Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad has asked the officials concerned to prepare a special action plan for the improvement of Rushikonda and Sagar Nagar beaches.
The Rushikonda beach can be equipped with additional amenities and a tourist information centre. Sign boards should be erected for the convenience of tourists, he said at a meeting with the representatives of Beach Management Committee on Thursday after an inspection of the ‘Blue Flag’ beach at Rushikonda.
He said those working at the ‘Blue Flag’ beach should be trained. He suggested to the officials to revive the marine watch tower at Rushikonda, construction of steps, provision of light, washrooms, removal of encroachments, streamlining of water supply and completion of the pending works.
He suggested that Sagar Nagar beach should be developed on the lines of Rushikonda beach.
Mr. Harendhira Prasad asked the officials concerned to ensure that the beaches were clean and more greenery were developed.
He suggested renaming the ‘complaint box’ at Rushikonda as ‘suggestions and opinions’ box. A board should be put up for the greywater treatment plant and special register be opened to record incidents that occur on the beach.
Regional Director of Tourism Jagadeesh, District Tourism Officer Sudhasagar, and officials of GVMC, Tourism, VMRDA, Pollution Control Board, EPDCL, Fisheries, Revenue and Police Departments attended the meeting.
