Sources said the deceased Mayandi was allegedly attacked by four men when he came to the court for a case hearing. The gang, which arrived in a car, intercepted Mayandi and attacked him with a sickle, killing him on the spot before fleeing.
On being alerted, the police recovered his body and sent it for postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, onlookers managed to apprehend one of the alleged assailants involved in the murder and handed him over to the police.
A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is underway.
