Mammootty, Parvathy's Puzhu skips theatrical release, to premiere on SonyLIV soon

The makers of Mammootty and Parvathy's Puzhu have opted for direct OTT release. SonyLIV has snapped up the rights of the film.

After Dulquer Salmaan's Salute, Mammootty's upcoming film, Puzhu is all set for a grand release on SonyLIV. The announcement was made today, March 16, by the OTT platform. The release date of Puzhu will be announced in the coming days. Directed by Ratheena PT, Puzhu is tipped to be a crime thriller featuring Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothy in lead roles.

On September 19, 2021, the first-look poster Puzhu was unveiled and it went viral on social media. The film is currently in the post-production phase and will release on SonyLIV soon.

Puzhu was slated to release in theatres in the first half of 2022. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the continuous release of big-budget films, the makers decided to release the film on an OTT platform. SonyLIV has snapped up the streaming rights of the film. The OTT platform will announce the release date of the film in the coming weeks.

Directed by Ratheena PT, Puzhu's screenplay will be written by Harshad, Sharfu and Suhas. The story is written by Harshad. Mammootty, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nedumudi Venu, Athmiya Rajan, Malavika Menon and Vasudev Sanjeesh play pivotal roles in the film.

In a statement, Mammootty said, "The story of Puzhu excited me the most. As an actor, it has always been my aim to keep reinventing myself, and to take up newer, more exciting projects. Puzhu marks another step in that direction. We tried to tell a story that we believed in and put our hearts into. Hope the viewers like what they see."

Cinematographer Theni Eswar, editor Deepu Joseph and composer Jakes Bejoy form the technical crew. Produced by Cyn-Cyl Celluloid, Puzhu is distributed by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films.
