Madhya Pradesh man's habit of keeping 150 metal pins inside mouth shocks doctors
India Today
A man from Madhya Pradesh's Satna, has carried over 150 metal pins in his mouth for decades without suffering any injury, baffling doctors and family alike.
A 58-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh’s Satna has left both locals and medical professionals stunned with a habit that seems to defy pain and logic. For the past 45 years, Sanjay Vishwakarma has been carrying over 150 sharp iron, steel, and brass pins inside his mouth without cuts, infections, or discomfort.
Sanjay’s unusual habit began when he was just 14. A regular paan-chewer, he often had pieces of betel nut stuck between his teeth. Matchsticks, which he initially used to remove them, would frequently snap.
One day, he tried using an iron pin instead. After removing the betel nut, he casually held the pin in his mouth, a moment that unknowingly marked the start of a lifelong habit. Over the years, one pin turned into many.
Today, Sanjay carries nearly 150 pins in his mouth at all times. Remarkably, they do not disrupt his daily life. He eats, drinks, speaks, and even sleeps with them still in place.
He also insists that he has never purchased a single pin. “Mujhe jahan bhi pin dikhti hai, chahe darzi ki dukaan ho, koi sarkari daftar ho ya kisi ki mez, main usey chupke se utha kar muh mein rakh leta hoon,” he says (“Wherever I see a pin, whether at a tailor’s shop, a government office, or on someone’s table, I quietly pick it up and put it in my mouth”). Today, people often bring pins to him on their own.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
