Harish Bhimani recalled the time spent with legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar at Aaj Tak's Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge.
Harish Bhimani recalled his first meeting with Lata Mangeshkar at Aaj Tak's special ode to the Nightingale of India - Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge. He spoke about how she was punctual and would always start her concerts with a shloka from Bhagavad Gita. The legendary singer passed away on February 6 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Speaking about Lata Mangeshkar, Harish Bhimani shared, "Lata Didi would start all her concerts with a shloka from Bhagawad Gita. The first time I met her I was just finishing the dubbing of Richard Attenborough's film. She was very punctual."
He also recalled his first meeting with her. He was supposed to host her concert in Kolhapur. He said that the singer was very particular about time. "Before I could say anything, she did namaskar, she said aap toh samachar wale hai (You are a news person) I said aap toh usi sur mein bolti hai jisme aap gaati hai (you speak in the same sur as you sing) She would never waste time, she would come on time and would straight start working. She was supposed to sing Marathi songs in Kolhapur, I wasn't sure I would be able to do it."
He further added, "While talking about the way I like to host, I said I shouldn't joke while anchoring for your programme, then shayari would also take up time because people would come to listen to you. And I shouldn't reveal the details of the songs you would sing. When she asked me what I would do, I said I would try. She said 'you try, the rest I will manage'. After rehearsals, she said, "I'm glad you said that because I would have added these as my clauses."
Lata Mangeshkar was cremated with full state honours at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar attended Lata Didi's final rites. Besides Sachin and Anjali, Shah Rukh Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rahul Vaidya and other eminent personalities paid last respects to Lata Mangeshkar.
