Lata Mangeshkar off ventilator this morning, to remain in ICU: Health Update

A rather relieving update for Lata Mangeshkar fans. As per the doctors at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, the legendary singer has been put off the ventilator this morning and is showing signs of improvement. She will, however, remain under observation. Lata Mangeshkar tested Covid positive on January 8.

Lata Mangeshkar fans can breathe a sigh of relief. As of this morning, January 27, Lata Mangeshkar has been put off the ventilator. She is showing signs of improvement but will remain under observation, says doctors at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, where the legendary singer is being treated. Lata Mangeshkar tested Covid positive on January 8.

Lata Mangeshkar had tested positive for Covid-19 on January 8. She was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital soon after. As per the latest updates, Lata Mangeshkar has shown considerable signs of improvement and was therefore taken off the ventilator. She will, however, remain under observation.

A statement about her latest health update states, "Lata didi continues to be in the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai under treatment. She has been given a TRIAL of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator) this morning. Presently, she is showing signs of improvement but will remain under observation of the team of doctors headed by Dr Pratit Samdani. We thank each one of you for your prayers and good wishes (sic)."

As Lata Mangeshkar continues to receive treatment at the hospital, rumours concerning the legendary singer’s health float around. A couple of days ago, Lata Mangeshkar's team issued a statement cautioning well-wishers to not pay heed to false reports. The statement sent out on January 21 read, "A sincere appeal. Please do not give wind to any false news. Lata Didi is in the ICU under treatment being treated by Dr Pratit Samdani and his team of doctors. The family and the doctors need their space. Let us pray for Lata Didi's speedy recovery and return home (sic)."
