
Lalu Prasad Yadav files petition in CBI court for release of his passport

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has filed a petition in a CBI court for the release of his passport, citing health reasons.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has submitted a petition in a special CBI court for the release of his passport. The veteran politician has sought the release of his passport on health grounds as he needs to fly to Singapore for treatment.
The RJD supremo has been suffering from kidney ailments.
“He [Lalu Prasad Yadav] has an appointment with a nephrologist and a specialist on September 24 in Singapore”, said his lawyer Anant Kumar.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav will need to fly latest by September 22,” he added.The former Bihar Chief Minister was convicted in five different cases related to a fodder scam that involved the excess withdrawal of crores from Jharkhand’s Chaibasa, Deoghar, Dumka, and Doranda treasuries. Lalu Prasad Yadav was sentenced to five years imprisonment in the fodder scam.

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.
