Indian National Anganvady Employees’ Federation temporarily calls off 13-day protest in Thiruvananthapuram after government assurances, pending committee decisions.
The Indian National Anganvady Employees’ Federation, affiliated to the INTUC, on Saturday (March 29, 2025) decided to temporarily call off its 13-day indefinite agitation in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, following decisions and assurances during discussion with the government.
Talks were held between Minister for Finance K.N. Balagopal and Minister for Health Veena George and the union representatives on Thursday. On the basis of the action-taken report and minutes of the meeting on the assurances by the government, the union on Saturday decided to call off the day-and-night protest.
At the meeting with the Ministers, it was decided that a committee would be formed within 10 days on important demands of the anganwadi workers such as honorarium, pension, and festival allowance. A report would be submitted by the committee within 90 days and decisions taken on its basis.
Terming the agitation “a complete success”, federation president Ajay Tharayil warned of a strong protest if the promises made by the government were not met within 90 days.

The Shakespeare Millennium Club in collaboration with the Annai Velankanni Church (Society of St. Vincent De Paul), conducted a Free Medical Camp on November 23, 2025 at the church premises from 9 am to 6 pm, with Dr. Samundi Sankari and Dr. Divya Sivaraman of Srushti Hospitals, Dr. Sharada L N of Aramba, the Kumaran Dental Clinic, Lychee and Satya Physiotherapy Centre, according to a press release.
