AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to address a public rally at Jantar Mantar, outlining AAP's future direction and addressing recent controversies.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to address a public rally at the Jantar Mantar here on Sunday (March 1, 2026), his first after a special court discharged him, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the excise policy case.
“The people of Delhi are eagerly waiting for Mr. Kejriwal’s public address, where he will present his views and outline the direction in which he will steer the party,” the AAP’s Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said, announcing the rally.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kejriwal on Saturday (February 28, 2026) evening took to social media platform X to say that the AAP had sought permission to conduct a rally at Jantar Mantar in advance but the Delhi Police was denying them permission to hold the rally. “Is this the result of yesterday’s order? Holding a rally, voicing one’s opinion —these are Constitutional rights of everyone. This kind of authoritarianism is not right. We should be allowed to hold the rally,” Mr Kejriwal said.
Mr. Bharadwaj said that the public rally would continue as planned.
A senior police official said permission to the AAP to hold the ‘mega rally’ had been denied, and the request to hold it had been received by the police only on Friday (February 27, 2026).
Subsequently, police permission to hold the rally was granted.
