
Keep constant watch on security arrangements, DC tells major industries

Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan emphasizes safety measures for major industries in district, with police monitoring closely.
Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan on Saturday, May 10, asked prominent enterprises, including major industries in the district to constantly watch their safety and security arrangements.
Chairing the district disaster monitoring committee meeting in view of the current situation here, Mr. Muhilan asked major oil and gas industries, the port and the airport, to immediately conduct safety drills in coordination with the district administration. While the round-the-clock control room was functional, the City Police Commissioner randomly checks the preparedness of the stakeholders, he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conducted a safety review meeting with district administrations through video conference on Saturday. Mr. Muhilan told the meeting that security aspects were regularly monitored at important industries, infrastructure facilities, religious places and crowded locations.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said the department has opened additional check posts at identified locations while vehicles entering the city were being screened. Police pickets were arranged during nights, he said. Keeping constant watch on spreading of false information through social media, the police have booked many cases against the violators. Use of drones was prohibited in the city, he added.
