Kadapa MP advocates for a new railway line to boost local economy and connect key industrial areas in Andhra Pradesh.
Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy has appealed to the Ministry of Railways to consider the Andhra Pradesh government’s 2022 proposal to develop a new broad-gauge railway line by reorienting the existing line laid up to Pendlimarri into two branches.
Mr. Avinash Reddy met Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Wednesday and sought the laying of a line from Pendlimarri to Puttaparthi via Pulivendula and Mudigubba, covering about 120 km. He also proposed a second line from Muddanur to Pulivendula for about 38 km.
He explained that the proposed alignment would function as an additional route to the existing Kadapa–Bengaluru railway line and could connect several cement plants located around Muddanur as well as the Kopparthi industrial estate, thereby improving the project’s economic viability.
Since the entire stretch lies within Andhra Pradesh, land acquisition could be completed in a relatively short time, he said in his representation to the Union Minister.
