House site pattas distributed, Indiramma houses sanctioned to eligible poor people on Bhoodan lands in Velugumatla
A model colony will be constructed with all amenities for the poor people in Velugumatla in Khammam city in such a way that people from other States in the country will come and visit it, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
He said that the remaining 16 acres of land in Velugumatla, after distributing house sites to the poor, will be utilised for the construction of a Telangana Public School and other government educational institutions.
He was speaking after distributing house site pattas to the eligible beneficiaries among the displaced poor people on Bhoodan lands in Velugumatla along with Ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Khammam on Wednesday.
The move comes close on the heels of the recent demolition of a little over 700 houses during an ‘eviction drive’ on Bhoodan lands at Velugumatla on February 24, 2026.

Of the total 412 eligible beneficiaries identified as part of the recent socio-economic survey in Velugumatla, house site pattas and Indiramma houses have been sanctioned to as many as 311 poor people on Bhoodan lands in Velugumatla. Indiramma houses have been sanctioned to the remaining 101 poor people in their respective villages.
