His family shared an emotional farewell at their Ghaziabad home, marking a historic first case of passive euthanasia in India.
After spending 13 years in a vegetative state, 32-year-old Harish Rana was transferred from Ghaziabad to AIIMS, Delhi, on Saturday following a Supreme Court ruling allowing passive euthanasia in his case. Doctors at AIIMS will gradually withdraw all life-sustaining treatment under careful medical supervision, marking a step towards ending his prolonged suffering.
A moving video shared widely on social media captures Rana’s family saying their final goodbyes at their home in Ghaziabad on Friday. In the clip, Rana’s Brahma Kumari sister speaks to him with tearful eyes, urging him to forgive and find peace.
She is seen saying, ‘Forgive everyone, ask forgiveness from all, now it’s time to go. It’s okay.’ The emotional farewell highlighted the deep bond and dedication of the family throughout the long ordeal.
