Instagram influencer, 23, dies after surgery to fix sweating goes horribly wrong

The influencer underwent the procedure to treat her excessive underarm sweating that involved removal of her sweat glands during the surgery. However, she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Mexican influencer and bodybuilder Odalis Santos Mena, who had over one lakh followers on Instagram, died on July 7 after a surgery went wrong. Reports suggest that Odalis, 23, was recruited by the SkinPiel clinic in Mexico’s Guadalajara to promote a treatment to reduce underarm sweating named MiraDry. As per a report published in The Sun, the treatment works by using heat energy to remove sweat glands. This also leads to reduction of body odour and underarm hair, it claimed.
