An Indian woman living in Australia reveals how moving abroad changed her life expectations. She describes the peaceful lifestyle and work-life balance as an unexpected but welcome trap.
An Indian woman living in Australia explained how moving abroad completely upended her expectations of life, calling it an “absolute trap” - not because it was difficult, but because it was surprisingly peaceful.
Instagram user Akanksha shared a video where she paired her narration with clips from her everyday life in Australia. In the caption, she wrote, “No one warned me that moving to Australia would completely mess up my expectations of life.”
She added that she had moved expecting to “hustle, struggle a bit, maybe relax someday,” but instead found herself immersed in “good work-life balance, clean air, safe cities, weekends that actually feel like weekends.”
In the video, Akanksha opens with playful warning: “No one will tell you this, but moving to Australia is a trap.” As she speaks, the visuals mirror her words closely.
When she says, “Now I’m waking up at 6am, going to the gym,” the clip cuts to early-morning routines and workout shots. As she adds, “My partner and I go to 10km hikes for fun. For fun,” the video shifts to scenic trails and long walks surrounded by nature.
She continues, half amused and half astonished, “Where are my relaxing days? I wake up, and I actually feel motivated to go to work. Who am I turning into?” The visuals then show her commuting, smiling at work, and enjoying unhurried moments that seem to contrast with the grind she associates with life back home.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
